Zimbabwean-born Makho Ndlovu is the host of Essence Now for Essence magazine; she captivates audiences with fresh takes on breaking celebrity news, exclusive interviews and Hollywood’s hottest stories. After migrating to the States with her family at the age of 10, Makho went on to become a New York City-based celebrity reporter whose meteoric rise began when she was discovered by a famed music producer. Over the past seven years, Makho has been the USA-based entertainment correspondent for YFM radio and has worked on several global networks including BET International.

Amazon Logistics Business Development Manager Kimberly Hill is truly passionate about the intersection of business, entrepreneurship and social responsibility. In her role, she recruits and launches entrepreneurs into the Delivery Service Partner program. She also serves on the board of Amazon’s Black Employee Network as the Non-Tech Professional Development Director where she drives inclusion and diversity—Kimberly led Amazon’s first Black History Month celebration and launched a company within Amazon, Textures & Hues. A true entrepreneur in every sense, Kimberly manages several businesses and is launching a beverage company with her sister this year. She has been featured in Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2018 40 Under 40 list,a recipient of Amazon’s 2018 Just Do It Award from Jeff Bezos, and most recently was featured in ESSENCE Magazine’s February 2019 issue.

Native Detroiter Melissa Butler is the strategic business thinker and creator behind the organic, vegan-based beauty brand the Lip Bar. Before launching the all-natural lipstick brand, the Florida A&M University graduate worked on Wall Street as a licensed stock broker. Seeing the need for chemical-free cosmetics in the marketplace, Butler began mixing lipstick products at home. With perseverance and a dedication to not taking “no” for an answer, Butler overcame rejections on the Shark Tank to have her revolutionary products be featured in Essence, Ebony and Cosmopolitan and sold nationwide in Target stores.

Maria More is a 20-year radio veteran and current midday host of Atlanta’s Majic 107.5/97.5. A fitness nutrition specialist and a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer, Maria is also the creator of MPowered Fitness for Women—a web-based program which has helped thousands of women worldwide reach their fitness goals. Maria earned her B.S. in Journalism from Florida A&M University and MBA in Marketing from Florida State University. A wife and mother of 4 children, Maria is passionate about family and aims to “live by example” while inspiring others along the way.
Founder – Frobabies
Veteran special needs educator Kanika Alston is a champion of educational equality for all children regardless of race, color, ethnicity or academic, physic, cognitive and social-emotional ability. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Hampton University, Kanika became dismayed by the cultural testing biases, disproportionately displayed numbers of young Black males placed in special education, and outstandingly low literacy rates. Equipped with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from Mercer College, the teacher and entrepreneur founded the Frobabies website and social networking with a mission to uplift, celebrate, showcase and empower children of color and to promote inclusivity.
